It’s May already and time for some summer feel cards. I know this year there are still a few of us who aren’t getting to see our parents, like me. It’s been quite a year and more. Looks like things are changing and hopefully we can all hug and squeeze all our loved ones.
This card is for all the kids out there ( I know I am 35, but I’m still a kid for my mom) who can’t see their mommy dearest. An ode to the darkness and light.

I actually made this card from some leftover crafts. The black embossed cardstock is from Michaels Recollection, which I trimmed using Sizzix corner border.
The flower, embossed with Wow! gold embossing powder, is from Pinkfresh Studio Keep going stamp set. The colors used are Wilted Violet and Shaded Lilac distress oxides. A lighter version is used as the background of the card.

Word dies “happy” and “day” are from Elizabeth craft designs. The letters are Bold Alpha die from Waffle Flower.
The trick I used to give it a raised look was from Jennifer Mcguire’s techniques where she glues the dies onto multiple layers of cardstock. I happened to use white, which was standing out too much, and using the dauber tried to match it with the purple to give it a cleaner look.

The complete card turned out to be simple yet elegant. I will be mailing this out to my mom soon.
