The Crafter’s Café Challenge Blog DT- Anything Goes

Hi guys! I have some amazing news. I have joined my first ever Design Team! I am above and beyond thrilled to start this new endeavour in my life. I think a lot of people wouldn’t find it as exciting, but I am discovering myself of recently (a.k.a the blog) and I feel like I am finally getting closer to what I want to be.

The lovely team members at Crafters Cafe have been gracious and kind in helping me navigate this new world. Safe to say, I am thrilled to be a part of their team ❤❤ and looking to the bright future.

At the challenge blog, we have challenges every 1st and 15th of each month. We have some amazing sponsors and prizes; and of course some inspirational cards by our DT members. Do check it out and look forward to all of you sharing your creations there!

Here is my card for the 1st June entry. The theme is “Anything Goes” and we have a few gracious sponsors. I made this card using digi images by My Besties Little Dimples DeDee. Honestly, it’s been a while since I’ve used digital images to make cards, and so I’ll be straightforward, it was hard! The way I thought I’d get inspired by this pretty image was by first just coloring and playing around with the image itself.

So the first thing I did was remove my watercolors and make swatches to see what colors would work best. I also did take some help by going on Pinterest and looking at some color combinations to feel more inspired. Next, I just started watercoloring Ms.Dimples and had a few zen hours while painting her.

After, this I started thinking of where she was. And obviously, I imagined her in a small garden, picking up flowers and putting them in her basket. To get the grass feel, I used Pinkfresh Studios Little edgers to die cut on green paper, followed by Distress Inks to add some shading.

Now to get her feet under the edgers, I used X-Acto knife to carefully cut around her shoes. I also used some distress ink shading around her feet. Now, this was definitely difficult to do. I used the masking method to blend ink around her feet. I was very scared that it wouldn’t work and that I would have to start all over again. But, as you can see, it turned out great!

I die cut the white frame also using Pinkfresh Studio Diagonal Stitched Rectangles, layering it 3 times to give a dimensional look. I die cut the flowers from Spellbinders and stamped the sentiment from Fun Stampers Journey, Backyard Blooms.

All in all, I definitely had to get out of my comfort zone to make this card and was happily thrilled with this card!

I am entering this card to:

I would love to hear from you guys on what you think about the card and the process used. Till next time.. Thank you 🙂
