The Crafter’s Café Challenge DT – Insects/Butterfly

Hello there! Thank you for being here.

I cannot tell you how delighted I am that this card turned out so amazing! I mean, I have never worked with this style of stamp and look how it turned out! When I was given this Bugaboo Picnic Ants stamp set, I almost panicked! I took so many days, fretting over what kind of card would I be able to make with ants as the main focus. That’s where I surprised myself! Taking the time to analyze, research and push boundaries; new traits that I picked up along this crafting journey.

So, let’s get to the card. I went in for a slimline card (another first) as I felt that it would be most suited to showcase the three ants.

I made the background using Altenew Stripe Builder stencil. I first used the stencil diagonally with distress ink Squeezed Lemonade and then vertically with Scattered Straw.

Then I printed the images, measuring almost 2 inches by 2 inches in size for each. Initially I had planned to use them in square shape, but felt that circles against the stripes suited better.

Before cutting them into circles, I took sometime watercoloring the images. I have been watching some tutorials on YouTube to help me understand how to create light and dark layering. Dark coloring to showcase the closest layer and then to show depth, the coloring can get lighter. I hope that helps for anyone venturing into coloring/painting.

After letting the paint dry, I die cut them into circles along with the white circle border.

The sentiment is something that I didn’t have in my stash. So the best way to use alphabet stamps, is to make your own sentiments. I used Docrafts Alpha Folk stamps that I bought from Scrapbook.com to individually stamp the letters. Of course, this would have been very hard for me without my Misti!

Finally, I used enamel dots from Waffle Flower to complete this pretty card.

I love the way all the elements tied together! Please do check out the Crafter’s cafe challenge blog to see what our DT members have created and join in!

I am entering this card to the following challenges:

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day!
