The Crafter’s Café Challenge DT – Anything Goes Beccy’s Place

Kinjal Trivedi – Beccy’s Place Stamps

Hello to all! Thank you for stopping by to witness this beauty of a card! This card is very much influenced by one of Cathy Zielske‘s fun and informative YouTube videos. I have been crafting since a few years on and off, but have been seriously into it since the beginning of this year. I came across her videos through the normal surfing and researching way 😉 Her videos have so much of tiny itty-bitty information that is super important! For example, in the video for this card, she talks about shading light and coloring dark to emphasize the distance. I had no idea and found it extremely useful. This is the video that I have used as an inspiration for this card.

I have always been a fan of purple and when she used it on the card that she made for her mom, I was definitely going to jump on that wagon.

I started out by printing this gorgeous Pine Tree image that Beccy’s Place has as a freebie on her website. No kidding! And, she has many more if you’d like to check it out – https://beccysplace.blogspot.com/2011/02/digital-design-index.html

The colors that I selected from top to bottom are: Spun Sugar, Shaded Lilac and Wilted Violet. Just like in Cathy’s video, I took a piece of circle and the used Wilted Violet around it to create a moon effect.

Now, the next part is super fun, where she tears of a strip of paper, uneven and then lays it against the bottom and reapplies Wilted Violet to create shading. This creates the effect of mountains/ridges that are close and far away. I also did the same with Shaded Lilac. This techniques is one for the books.

After all the coloring was done, I used a fan brush to lightly tap water spots all over the image. It gives a snowy look to this card, which I absolutely adore. I used Pinkfresh Studio diagonal stitched rectangles to trim the image down.

The Good Vibes sentiment is also from Pinkfresh Studio Hummingbird stamp set, which sat perfectly well in the circle. I heat set the stamp image on vellum and used Ranger Ink Black Sparkle embossing powder. I taped the edges of the vellum strip behind and finally glued it on white Neenah cardstock.

I loved this card so much that I tried the whole technique again, just for fun and also made a tag. This card and tag set is for sure a winner for me 🙂

I love using different mediums of coloring, as you know. I have always been a fan of watercolors, but using the distress inks to create layers is also fascinating. Do give it a try and let me which CZ’s videos/techniques are your fav.
