Display Frame Card inspired by Jennifer McGuire – Birthday

Hello there (Jennifer’s style).

Today, I am sharing this card that was a commissioned card by a very dear friend, who wanted to give her husband a birthday card that they could display and also that was personalized. Of course, I turned to Jennifer’s YouTube videos and finally found a way to make that happen.

The video I am mentioned is linked here, in case you would like to look at it. Since it was a very specific card that she had in mind, I did use a multitude of brands to bring it to life. I will be listing all of them below, as well as links for you to purchase (some are affiliate links).

I won’t go too much into details about how I assembled the card, as Jennifer already does that in the video. And I have copied it to the T (the dimensions, not the style). I did the 5×7 inches, vertical card (which is the second card she demonstrates).

I will share all the pictures of the card first so that you can have a look at the finished card.

Let’s start with the front of the card products used:

Inside the card:

I added strings to the balloons individually, as I felt that gave a more realistic look.

Also, I was told that the husband’s favorite cake flavor was Tiramisu (yum), hence, the colors used. I also took a round brush and tried to make specks with brown and white paint.

The only thing that I added here, was two acetate strips instead of just one . Which, in hindsight, added too much weight and the card kept shutting. So, don’t try to do that if you want the card to stand up easily. But, I suggested to my friend to just roll some tape and add it at the base, so that it would stand upright (we are all learning here ;)).

So, that’s the card. I have to be honest, I was so intimated when I first saw the video. But, the way that Jennifer explains everything, oh it was a breeze. Her measurements and the way she explains things are never confusing and always makes perfect sense.

Also, I feel like I don’t do enough interactive cards, and would like to add doing that. What do you think?
