Altenew Get Inky with Alcohol Inks Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in Total Prizes!)

Hey there! I have been holding this in for a while, and I can finally tell you that I was invited by the amazing Altenew team to be a part of their blog hop as a Guest Designer! I will be participating in a few more hops, and I can’t wait to share all the beautiful stuff I have been playing with. So, here goes…

I know we all love the wonderful backgrounds that Alcohol Inks make. But I wanted to try using them with a gel plate (and I didn’t have the special paper for the alcohol inks… so, ssshh!!) and it didn’t disappoint. The one thing that I noticed with the inks on the gel plate is that because it is highly pigmented, the inks were very intense. I used a mixture of the Azurite and Amethyst alcohol inks on paper as well as acetate (although I didn’t use it in this project). I also added some drops of the Sugarplums color family on paper that I will use to stamp leaves on.

I used the Mighty Alphabet to create the word Hello with three shades of cardstock. I chose leaves from the Blooming Bouquet stamp set and stamped them strategically over the dots and then die cut them. I placed the below and above the letters. The sentiment stamps is from Fresh Freesia stamp set, that I stamped with black onyx ink. Finally, I added some New Day enamel dots.

For those new to my page, let me introduce myself. My name is Kinjal and I am popularly known as Mind My Paper, which is my social media handle. I started crafting after moving to the USA in 2015 after my marriage. I am originally from India, but have moved around a bit and I will keep moving around now with my hubby (next country calling soon). I have always been very creative and this was a perfect calling.   19. I really enjoy your artistry! Hope I see more from you. Never thought to use a gel press. Thanks for sharing. I don’t use yupo paper. I cheat. Cheap white poster Board from Amazon works pretty well and is so much more reasonably priced. It works for me. When you are retired, you have to come up with cheap alternatives. I won’t scimp on quality inks though and love Altenew!

  20. For some reason, my comments didn’t post. Love your gel press technique. Thanks. Because I am retired and won’t scimp on quality alcohol inks like Altenew, I use Poster Board from Amazon instead of the expensive Yupo paper. Retired people have to cut corners somewhere. LOVE Altenew products!

  34. I love the color combination you chose! Very complimentary and eye catching. I had never heard of Yupo paper until recently… We used to use alcohol inks on vellum and acetate to create different types of crafty goodness. Your card design is beautiful! I look forward to seeing more of your art!
